Overview
Gong operates an official hosted MCP server at mcp.gong.io that gives AI agents access to insights about your accounts and deals. Access is authorized through OAuth 2.0 with dynamic client registration, once a Gong admin has created an MCP server integration for your gateway.
1. Configure Gong
- Sign in to Gong as a tech admin and go to Admin center → Settings → Ecosystem → MCP, then open the MCP servers tab and click New MCP server integration.
- Enter an integration name, and under Redirect URI add your gateway’s OAuth callback URL — found in the Overview tab for your gateway in the Dtwo UI.
- Set the registration type to Automatic.
- Choose Personal access so the agent can only see the data of the user who authorizes it, or Shared access to give it all of your Gong data. You can’t change the registration type or access setting after you submit the integration.
- Save the integration.
2. Add the MCP server to your gateway config
Go to your gateway in the Dtwo UI and open Configuration → Advanced. In the mcp_servers section add the following entry:
- name: gong
description: "Gong's official hosted MCP server for account and deal insights."
url: https://mcp.gong.io/mcp
transport_type: streamablehttp
authentication:
type: oauth
grant_type: authorization_code
issuer: "https://mcp.gong.io"
redirect_uri: "<CALLBACK_URL>"
scopes:
- mcp:read
- mcp:write
dcr_enabled: true
pkce_enabled: true
Replace the placeholder value:
<CALLBACK_URL>— your Dtwo gateway’s OAuth callback URL, found in the Overview tab for your gateway in the Dtwo UI.
3. Deploy and verify
Save the configuration and deploy the gateway.
Then, in your AI client, ask it to authorize Gong via the gateway. This opens the Gong sign-in and consent screen — sign in as the user whose permissions the agent should inherit, and approve the consent prompt. Once authorized, confirm the server’s tools appear and run a quick call, such as asking for a summary of a recent deal, to make sure the connection works.
If the tools don’t appear after you authorize, refresh the tool list in your AI client — some clients don’t pick it up automatically.
