Overview

Apollo.io operates a hosted MCP server at mcp.apollo.io covering people and company search, contact and company enrichment, contacts, accounts, deals, lists, sequences, and tasks. Access is authorized through OAuth 2.0. Apollo’s server supports dynamic client registration, so there’s no OAuth app to create in Apollo first — the gateway registers itself when a user authorizes.

1. Add the MCP server to your gateway config

Go to your gateway in the Dtwo UI and open Configuration → Advanced. In the mcp_servers section add the following entry:

  - name: apollo
description: "Apollo.io's hosted MCP server for prospecting, enrichment, and sales engagement."
    url: https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp
    transport_type: streamablehttp
    authentication:
      type: oauth
      grant_type: authorization_code
      issuer: "https://mcp.apollo.io"
      redirect_uri: "<CALLBACK_URL>"
      scopes:
        - read_user_profile
        - mixed_people_api_search
        - mixed_companies_search
        - contacts_search
        - contact_read
        - contact_write
        - people_match
        - organizations_enrich

Replace the placeholder value:

  • <CALLBACK_URL> — your Dtwo gateway’s OAuth callback URL, found in the Overview tab for your gateway in the Dtwo UI.

The scopes above cover search, contact management, and enrichment. Apollo scopes each action separately — sequences, deals, lists, tasks, and conversations all have their own — so add the ones your agents need and leave out the rest. people_match and organizations_enrich consume Apollo credits.

2. Deploy and verify

Save the configuration and deploy the gateway.

Then, in your AI client, ask it to authorize Apollo via the gateway. This opens the Apollo login screen — sign in as the user whose permissions the agent should inherit, and approve the consent prompt. Once authorized, confirm the server’s tools appear and run a quick call to make sure the connection works.

If the tools don’t appear after you authorize, refresh the tool list in your AI client — some clients don’t pick it up automatically.
